One of our most popular divisions in camp, our Freshman (campers who are entering Kindergarten or who have just
completed Kindergarten) thrive at Deer Mountain. We help them feel safe, comfortable and happy with close, caring
supervision and offer them a complete program of activities on Freshman facilities specially designed for their
size and ability. HAVING FUN... MAKING FRIENDS... LEARNING & GROWING... THE DEER MOUNTAIN WAY!

Freshman groups are supervised by a Mommy Counselor as well as at least one College Aged Counselor and an
Assistant Counselor. Division Leaders and Assistant Division Leaders oversee each of our Freshman Age Groups.
Group size is kept small with an average of 10 campers per group.

For campers who are entering Kindergarten, we offer a 5 Full Day Program or a 5 Mini Day Program called our
Interim Freshman Program. The Interim Freshman Program consists of a 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM option as well as a
10:30 AM to 4:00 PM option. The Interim Freshman Program is available in Rockland as well as specific areas
in Bergen and Orange Counties. For campers who have completed Kindergarten, we offer the 5 Full Day Program
exclusively.

The Freshman Activitiy Program includes Swimming (2x per day, instructional & recreational), Team Sports
(Softball/T-Ball, Basketball, Soccer, Hockey, Flag Football, Newcomb, Kick Ball, Ga Ga),
Specialty Sports (Pee Wee Tennis, Archery, Mini Golf, Golf Driving Range, Putting Green, Gymnastics, Martial Arts),
Crafts (Arts & Crafts, Ceramics, Sewing, Cooking, Photography), Performing Arts (Music & Drama, Puppetry & Magic, Dance),
Camp Classics (Nature Center, Petting Zoo, Ponies, Boating & Fishing, Low Ropes Course), Club Choice
(3 individual choice activities per week - campers choose more activities listed above or opt into CLUB
specials such as Radio, Newspaper, Game Room, Painting & Drawing, Cheerleading, Parachute Games, Game Room, etc..)
