Costumed superhero parades. Meeting princess Ariel ‘under the sea’. Late nights for older kids…and two famous carnivals.

We dedicate at least one period on a weekly basis to special extravaganzas and activities that campers look forward to all summer long.

These events replace regular scheduling—so we ensure they’re extraordinary. Some are division-only, meeting specific age and gender needs (think Food Fight Olympics for Junior boys). Some are brand new, conceived and curated according to a fun whim or trend. Others are deeply anticipated traditions, like our 3-day camp Olympics, in play since 1956 (!). All provide kids with a true camp experience—and yet more precious memories.

Traditions

Deer Mountain is rich with history and tradition. Some of our favorite camp traditions have been around since Mel and Rita founded the camp in 1956. Today, Roberta and Carol carry on the torch—continuing these quintessential Deer Mountain experiences for campers through the generations.
